How to Configure Syslog Server Locally in an Easy Way

Background

Many users find it difficult to capture the Syslog from the phone or gateway devices when the issues are intermittent and difficult to replicate. Hence, you can install an external Syslog server on your machines that allow you to store and capture the phone's Syslog the whole day.

Requirement: Windows OS


Steps

  1. Go here to download Tftpd32 Portable by Ph. Jounin

  2. Install and launch Tftppd32 onto your Windows PC

  3. Navigate to Grandstream device's Web GUI, configure Syslog Server: IP address of your PC, click Save and Apply, followed by a Reboot.


4. Launch Tftpd32, click Settings and enable Syslog Server under the GLOBAL tab's Start


5. Then, navigate to the SYSLOG tab and enable Save Syslog messages to file Syslog.txt


The Syslog file is located in the installation folder.


6. Restart the tftpd32 application. You will see the real-time phone's Syslog messages.
